THis week in third grade
Unit 1Essential Question: What are the parts of a story?
This week in reading we will be reading the story, A Fine, Fine School by Sharon Creech. It is an amusing story about a principal that adds school on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Thanks to an insightful student, the principal realizes that children may learn many important things outside of school, therefore goes back to the traditional school schedule of Monday - Friday. MathIn chapter one of math, the "Big Idea" is to count and compare numbers to 10,000. Our third graders will be using their understanding of place value to count by 1s, 10s, 100s, and 1,000s to 10,000. They will read and write numbers to 10,000 in standard form, expanded form, and word form. We will use this understanding to compare and order numbers up to 10,000.
